Tunable Phase Gratings by Wrinkling of Plasma-Oxidized PDMS: Gradient Skins and Multiaxial Patterns

چکیده
Wrinkling instabilities in polymeric bilayers have been exploited as optical phase gratings with tunable performance. Here, we report strain modulated 1D and 2D fabricated by the ubiquitous process of plasma-oxidation polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). While surface oxidation provides a remarkably facile glassy skin formation approach, minimizing delamination debonding, it inherently results gradient conversion profile emanating from top film interface. We examine quantitatively model consequences this layer on properties resulting strain-tunable gratings. Diffraction efficiencies up to 48% are demonstrated. then develop validate reconstruction methodology based diffraction pattern our sinusoidal model, which extend high deformation regimes gratings, obtained superposition two wrinkling generations, where both amplitudes wavelengths can be independently tuned. Overall, approach rapid, robust predictive framework for design fabrication tunable, single, multiaxial

Nested self-similar wrinkling patterns in skins.
Stiff thin films on soft substrates are both ancient and commonplace in nature; for instance, animal skin comprises a stiff epidermis attached to a soft dermis. Although more recent and rare, artificial skins are increasingly used in a broad range of applications, including flexible electronics, tunable diffraction gratings, force spectroscopy in cells, modern metrology methods, and other devic...
متن کاملFrontal vitrification of PDMS using air plasma and consequences for surface wrinkling.
We study the surface oxidation of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) by air plasma exposure and its implications for the mechanically-induced surface wrinkling of the resulting glass-elastomer bilayers. The effect of plasma frequency (kHz and MHz), oxygen content (from O2 to air), pressure (0.5 ≤ P ≤ 1.5 mbar), as well as exposure time and power, is quantified in terms of the resulting glassy skin thi...

a problem of computer vision applications is to detect regions of interest under dif- ferent imaging conditions. the state-of-the-art maximally stable extremal regions (mser) detects affine covariant regions by applying all possible thresholds on the input image, and through three main steps including: 1) making a component tree of extremal regions’ evolution (enumeration), 2) obtaining region ...
Tunable twin Airy beams induced by binary phase patterns.
In this work, we theoretically and experimentally study the physical process of Airy beams induced by binary phase patterns combined with a slope factor. Theoretical simulations show that the binary phase patterns generate a pair of symmetrically inverted twin Airy beams. The slope factor can regulate the spacing between the two Airy beam peaks, decrease the error induced by the binarization pr...
